A few things to know about your files, your credits and what happens after conversion.
What files can I convert?
Editable Adobe Captivate Classic (.cptx), modern Captivate (.cpt) and Articulate Storyline (.story) projects. Available destinations depend on the content and layout inside each file. Published SCORM packages, PowerPoint files and PDFs are not conversion inputs.
Will the converted course look and work exactly the same?
Expect a useful starting point that needs review and edits. The tools use different layouts and behavior, and some features cannot be carried over. The review explains the changes and points you to affected slides. Always Preview the result in the destination app.
What does one credit cover?
One completed conversion to one destination format. Each new conversion, including a rerun of a completed conversion, uses another credit. Inspection and downloading existing results do not use credits. Failed conversions release their reserved credit.
Is this a subscription?
No. The launch offer is a one-time purchase of one or ten conversion credits. During the private preview, checkout uses Stripe test mode and does not take real payments.
Can I start using it today?
Invited testers get 3 free preview conversions, added once to their account. No checkout is needed. Sign in with your Happy Alien account. If you are not invited yet, use the early-access form to request an invitation. Public self-service signup and live purchases are not open yet.
Can it make a fixed course mobile-friendly?
For supported fixed-layout modern Captivate PowerPoint imports, readable shapes and text can be rebuilt into responsive Captivate content. Classic to modern Captivate also adapts the layout. The arrangement will change and needs review. A whole-slide picture cannot be separated into its original text and objects.
Can I convert a whole library at once?
You can work through multiple courses using the ten-credit option. The current workflow takes one course at a time; batch uploads, shared team balances and automated bulk migration are not available. Contact us about a larger migration.
What happens after I download the course?
Open the editable project in Storyline or Captivate, make the changes you need, and Preview it. Publish from that authoring app to SCORM or another format, then upload the published course to your LMS or ReviewMyElearning. Course Conversions does not publish or host your learner-facing course.
How long do you keep my files?
New uploads, converted projects and reports share a 48-hour download window starting when the upload begins. The app shows the exact deadline. Expired links stop working; automatic cleanup removes the files, with catch-up after an outage. Small conversion-history and payment records are retained. Download your files to keep them.
Is AI used to convert or review my uploaded course?
AI reporting is off in the hosted preview. Conversions and their review reports use the conversion engine; your course is not sent to an AI service as part of this hosted workflow.
Do I need Storyline or Captivate?
You need the destination authoring app to open, edit, Preview and publish the converted project. Having the original app also helps you compare the source with the result. Course Conversions itself runs in your browser.
Do early testers pay to try it?
No. Invited testers receive 3 free preview conversions, added once to their account when they sign in. Course inspection is free and failed conversions release their credit. Invited testers also get 50% off their first credit pack at launch. Please share feedback after trying a course, but it is not required for the discount.
