YOUR FILES & PRIVACY

A temporary stop.
Your project goes with you.

Here’s how course files are handled in the hosted private preview. This page describes the current product workflow.

Your files are private.

Course uploads and converted files use private storage. The service checks your Happy Alien account and ownership before granting access to a course or issuing a temporary download link. Access to the preview is limited to invited accounts.

Save your downloads within 48 hours.

New source files, converted projects and report content share one deadline: 48 hours after the upload starts. Your app shows that exact deadline. Converting, retrying or downloading does not extend it.

After expiry, new download links are denied and automatic cleanup removes file content. Cleanup catches up when the worker returns from an outage; physical deletion may happen after the deadline. You can also use Delete files in your course history. Keep your own copies of the source and downloaded results.

Small records stay.

Conversion-history metadata and payment/credit records remain after file deletion. These let the service keep a record of completed work and avoid charging a credit twice. Course inspection and report content are cleared during cleanup.

Accounts, hosting and payments.

The hosted app uses Happy Alien identity and private storage through Supabase, runs the conversion service on Render, and uses Stripe for checkout. Payments currently run in Stripe test mode. Don’t enter real card information in test checkout.

AI reporting is off.

The hosted workflow does not send your course to an AI service for conversion or report writing. Review reports are produced by the conversion engine.

Product analytics.

We use the same PostHog project as our other Happy Alien tools, with activity labeled Course Conversions. Anonymous events tell us which pages and conversion steps are used. We do not send course files, filenames, course text, reports, form entries, email addresses or login details to analytics. There is no session recording or automatic capture of clicks and typed text.

A random session identifier is stored in this tab’s session storage. It is separate from your account and is not a count of unique customers. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control turn this collection off.

Your access requests and messages.

The request form sends your name, email address, conversion interest and message to the Happy Alien helpdesk. These details are self-reported and are used to respond and manage invitations and tester feedback. Support requests are kept separately from temporary course files; the 48-hour course-file deadline does not apply to helpdesk conversations. Submitting the form does not guarantee an invitation. The launch discount is for invited testers.
